FAQ's
Q. When do I get the notification for non-renewal of my homeowners, dwelling and umbrella policy?
A. The non-renewal notice will be sent no later than 80 days prior to policy expiration date for homeowners, dwelling and umbrella policies. The first notice will be sent in early April for policies expiring on July 1 or later.
Q. How can I get replacement coverage?
A. Please contact your insurance agent and rest assured that they are ready to work with you to find and select replacement coverage.
Q. Does the non-renewal of homeowners policy have any impact on my existing auto policy?
A. When both your homeowners and auto policy are written through Tokio Marine America Insurance Company and/or Trans Pacific Insurance Company, you receive a companion policy discount. Once your homeowners policy cancels or non-renews, you are no longer eligible for a companion credit on your auto policy. Most insurance companies have a similar rule. Please consult with your agent if you have further questions.
Q. Can I cancel the current policy during the policy period and move to another insurance carrier?
A. Yes. You can cancel your policy at any time without any penalty for cancelling early. If you choose to keep your policy up to the point of policy expiration at non-renewal, we will serve you until the current policy expires.
Q. Why is Tokio Marine America transferring my auto policy to Trans Pacific Insurance Company (TPI)?
A. This is part of the processes for Tokio Marine America to completely withdraw from all personal lines of business. TPI is an owned company of Tokio Marine and carries the same AM Best financial rating (A++) and claims paying ability. The change in insuring company keeps the same coverages as before.
Q. What is the name and phone number of the agency handling my policy?
A. The contact information for your agent is in the upper right-hand corner of your insurance policy/renewal. These documents will list the coverage limits and premiums.
